Jacob "J.D." Dirks, 13, of Knoxville, died
on Thursday, at Blank Children's Hospital
from injuries sustained in an
accident.
A celebration of
life will be held on February 27 at 10
A.M. at the Celebrate Community Church in
Knoxville. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F.
in Bloomfield at 2 P.M.
He was baptized
in his mother's home church, Bloomfield
United Methodist. In 1994 Jacob's family
moved to Knoxville. Jacob was currently
enrolled in the 8th grade in the Knoxville
Community Schools. He was active in
wrestling, football, track and made the
All Stars baseball three years in a row.
He was an avid Hawkeye fan and was proud
of his cap which the entire Hawkeye
Wrestling team had signed. J.D. enjoyed
music, video games, spider solitaire,
hunting, fishing and hanging with his
friends. He was also very involved with
the Celebrate Church and Living Word
Fellowship Youth Groups.
Jacob is survived
by his parents, Neal and Cindy; brother,
Zachary; maternal grandparents, Charles
and Carolyn Scott of Bloomfield; paternal
grandmother, Mildred Dirks of Cedar
Rapids; aunts and uncles, Craig and Kathi
Scott of Bloomfield, Colleen and Kurt
Birchmier of Carlisle, Christine and
Michael McClure of Bloomfield and Leon and
Kay Dirks of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandfather, William Dirks and his uncle,
Clark Dirks.
